Welcome to Capa Tosta, an exquisite gem nestled in the heart of Washington, DC. Located at 2737 Sherman Ave NW, this establishment stands out not just for its appealing ambiance but also for its outstanding culinary offerings. As a food reviewer who appreciates the art of Italian cuisine, I found my experience at Capa Tosta truly memorable.
From the moment you step inside, the cozy, dimly lit atmosphere invites you to unwind and enjoy a delightful meal. Capa Tosta is celebrated for its homemade dishes, ranging from freshly baked bread to rich pasta creations. Each plate is a testament to the culinary expertise and attention to detail that the chefs devote to crafting authentic Italian flavors.
One highlight from my visit was the calamari, which boasted a light, crispy coating that retained the tenderness of the seafood within. The accompanying marinara sauce was fresh and vibrant, offering a perfect dip that complemented the dish beautifully. For the main course, the crab and lobster ravioli stood out with its generous filling and a sauce that was simply delightful—a creamy embrace for the seafood flavors.
Another dish that deserves a mention is the fettuccine alfredo with chicken, an indulgent classic that was rich without being overwhelming. The pasta was cooked to perfection, allowing the flavors to meld wonderfully.
Capa Tosta also offers a creative cocktail menu. I was particularly intrigued by the Amalfi, a refreshing blend of gin and limoncello topped with prosecco, perfect for a warm evening. For those preferring non-alcoholic options, the Primavera mocktail, infused with lemon and thyme, is a must-try.
The reviews from fellow diners echo my sentiments. Guests rave about the attentive service and the welcoming staff, who go above and beyond to ensure a remarkable dining experience. One patron even noted how a waiter remembered them after a year, showcasing the personal touch that Capa Tosta prides itself on.
In summary, Capa Tosta is more than just a restaurant; it's a delightful culinary adventure that captures the essence of Italian hospitality and cuisine. Whether you're looking for a romantic date spot, a cozy dinner with friends, or simply exceptional food, this place is worth every visit. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu!

This place is amazing. Food is delicious and made from scratch. All the staff is professional and truly are attentive to every customer. Waiter new the menu and recommended a delicious meal for me and my friends. This is a amazing Italian food from the homemade bread, to the pasta and dessert. I will definitely be back.

Everything about this place was great. The atmosphere is very cozy, dim lights, nice for a romantic date. I’ve been here twice and have had a great time. The workers are friendly and very attentive. We come from Charlotte, NC so we wanted quality food We had the pleasure of meeting Reza there and he was just such a wonderful time. After a year he still remembered us which was very sweet of him. I got the Caesar salad and lobster and crab ravioli and it was all very good. 10/10 recommend :)

Came here for a farewell dinner with my housemate. Everything we ordered (the Capa Tosta salad, cavatelli pesto shrimp, and the fettuccine alfredo with chicken) was delicious! The setting was also intimate enough to have a nice, meaningful conversation.

I received great service and delicious food. It was my first time trying pumpkin ravioli. My only gripe is that the price didn't match the portion size.

Beautiful ambiance and great food! I had the calamari (very light and perfect crunch), the eggplant parmesan (fresh! Leading to a perfect crunch with fresh marinara also), and the crab and lobster ravioli (generous filling and delightful sauce). The highlight was decidedly the tiramisu; I normally hate it for being soggy and bitter, but their rendition is light and airy. The owner is also generous and charming. Definitely glad I went!

Have visited this place a few times and it is always jaw droppingly delicious. The Frito Misto is a must have appetizer! Their pastas are amazing, with the best Italian sausage and chicken - so tender and flavorful. Their cocktails are delicious too! On top of the amazing food is top tier service. Will be back, and back often!

Been wanting to come for a while and finally stopped in while on the run. The meatballs were excellent and I live bread when it’s served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar! Mama Mia!! I’ll be back for a more extensive meal bit the bread was wonderful and the meatball with the bursts were scrumptious!!!

If you love Italian in an accessibly classy neighborhood spot, make a reservation at Capa Tosta in Pleasant Plains. My friend and I made last minute reservations for 7:45 p.m. on a Wednesday evening for dinner and drinks. We left impressed. Here's why. 1) Food: The menu is divided between starts, mains, and a surprisingly large dessert menu. My friend ordered the bolognese and I the chicken parm. We both really enjoyed our meals. The chicken parm is HUGE! It's a large thin cut of chicken on top of pasta. The pasta came with vodka sauce, which I don't usually like, but loved this one. It even outshined the chicken, which was also great. To start, complimentary warm bread came out. The oil and balsamic vinegar on the table went well with it. 2) Drinks: Italian drinks skew more bitter, but as a sweet drinker, I enjoyed the "Cali" with vodka, elderflower, lime, processo, and lemon peel. My friend really enjoyed the negroni. 3) Service: It was attentive and on point. They left us alone while taking care of our every need at the same time. 4) Space: It's a small space with a dining room, a bar, and an outdoor patio. Because it's more intimate, it makes for a great date spot. 5) Neighborhood: There's a lot to walk to in this neighborhood from restaurants in Park View to bars in Columbia Heights. We found street parking a few blocks from the restaurant.
